Secod Soul's is a kennel for basenjis. Basenji is a primitive breed and it's been used for hunting for thousands of years. Their drive for hunting is still very strong.

Walking in the forest, hunting and lure coursing are close to my heart. I enjoy moments when I see my dogs living by their drive and I try my best to offer that kind of experiences for my basenjis. Basenji is a working dog with intelligence and versatility and you can try all sort of activities with it, all you need is a little bit patience. In Finland, basenjis are trained for dog shows, agility, obedience, rally obedience, nose work and blood tracking tests. My basenjis have succeed nicely in lure coursing, and also in dog shows without much effort.

I've been dealing with basenjis since 2007 and since 2014 I've been really in to working with dogs. Kipinä (Nature's Masterpiece Catch me If U Can) arrived 2014 and soon after that I got a feeling about having another basenji. So, Kipinä's half sister Evita (Nature's Masterpiece Enchanted Libra) came 2015.

At first we went to some dog shows and trained for lure coursing. The girls have had success in both. Especially Evita has a nature of a competitor and a great urge for running. She's a great partner for lure coursing and nowadays our cooperation is seamless; I just know when she's ready for running and when she's going to run extremely well. Evita has achieved titles of Finnish champion, Finnish Lure Coursing Champion and Finnish Champion of Lure Coursing in 2017. About my dogs, I appreciate that even though the dogs have aged and made litters (to the kennel Nature's Masterpiece), the enthusiasm has not subsided or the energy hasn't slowed down.

Nowadays lure coursing has become more than a hobby. In 2022 I qualified as a lure coursing judge. I have also been awarded with the Finnish Sighthound Assosiation's silver badge of merit and Finnish Basenjis Assosiation's (SUBA) silver badge of merit.

Since 2016 I have learnt to hunt and move in the forest with my basenjis. It's absolutely amazing to watch basenjis working in the forest, doing things they've been originally breeded for. When hunting, you can actually see the enthusiasm and the will to work together with the owner. Basenjis instincts are strong, but when you use them and the dogs' energy in the right way, you have something special.

My priority is to breed basenjis with balanced basenji-like temperament understanding and honoring the history of the breed at the same time. Also an important goal for me is the health; I would never use a dog with a hereditary disease for breeding. Good temperament and good physical structure are important qualities for me.

My dogs live like normal house dogs, as family members. In their birth home, our puppies experience different types of floors and rooms. They see lots of places outside of their puppy fence. It's very important to me that puppies get good homes for the rest of their lives. After the puppies have arrived in their new homes I'm very interested in hearing how things are going. I'll be there for them if it's necessary to help how to get along with a new family member. I don't have any demands for what to do with your dog (no obligatory dog shows), but I hope it is understood that what you do with your puppy or young dog, it's going to help you in the future.

When basenji has bonded with you, it becomes your second soul.
